Description:
In the style and tradition of Flemish red ales a 375ml half champagne bottle with cork and muzzle. This reddish beer releases a strong malty perfume when it hits the glass. The flavours awaken the tongue with a sharp sourness of wild cherries followed by a warming spicy back flavour which then softens and hints of blackberries. The perfect winter warmer this beer and would drink well with a steak & ale pie and would even drink nicely with a rich plum pudding or a traditional rich suet treacle pud!! Des de Moor sums up this beer on his website (desdemoor.co.uk), “John’s take on a Flemish sour red ale. It’s a burgundy colour with some pinkish head and quite a low carbonation, with a sharpish cherry note and a whiff of roses on a fruity, slightly woody aroma. The palate is only lightly sour – presumably through the use of inoculated wild yeast – with chocolate, fruity malt and an irony tang appropriate to the style. A satisfying finish has tangy fruit, wood polish and a bit more chocolate. An intriguing beer – not a clone of the Belgian originals but recognisably in the style, and distinctive in its own right.”
